This free animated starting soon screen maker builds the placeholder screens every stream needs — a "Starting Soon" intro, a "Be Right Back" break card, an "Offline" screen, a "Stream Over" ending and a "Technical Difficulties" card. Start from a ready-made template or drop in your own background photo, position it, pick an animation style — floating particles, fire, snowfall, rain, twinkling stars, bokeh lights, bottom waves, confetti, sakura petals, matrix rain and more — and export a full-HD PNG, an animated GIF or a high-quality WebM — ready for OBS, Streamlabs or any encoder on Twitch, YouTube and Kick.
New: live countdown, templates and an OBS link
Add a countdown timer — a set length such as 5 minutes, or "until 8:00 PM" — in six styles: big digits, flip cards, boxed digits, a ring, a progress bar or a pill. Each of the five screens keeps its own text, so one design gives you all five. Start from 38 ready-made templates (photo scenes, synthwave, neon, cozy, esports, seasonal and platform colours) and change anything: 14 fonts, 8 title effects, 6 title motions, 6 layouts, 18 colour palettes, 7 background styles, socials with Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok, X, Instagram and Discord icons, an info card, a weekly stream schedule (on by default on the Offline and Stream Over screens) and a scrolling ticker.
A video file can't count down, so the countdown ticks live in the OBS browser source link. Paste it into a Browser source at 1920 × 1080 and tick "Refresh browser when scene becomes active" so the timer starts over every time you switch to the scene. Counting to a time instead — say Friday at 8 PM on your Offline screen? Downloaded files show that time, and the link counts down to it. Using your own photo? One click downloads the screen without the countdown and copies a countdown-only link to put on top.
Animated vs static: GIF, WebM or PNG?
For a still screen, download the PNG (1920 × 1080) and add it as an Image source. For motion, a WebM is the best choice — it's full resolution, smooth and small, it loops seamlessly, and OBS plays it perfectly as a Media source on loop. A GIF also works and plays everywhere, but it's limited to 256 colours and larger files, so this tool exports GIFs at a lighter resolution. Use WebM when you can, GIF when you need maximum compatibility.
How to add an animated screen in OBS
Create a new scene, add a Media Source (for WebM/GIF) or an Image source (for PNG), and pick the file you exported. Enable Loop for video and GIF. Switch to that scene before you go live, on breaks, or when you end the stream.
Using your own background photo
Choose "Your photo", upload an image, then drag the preview to reposition it and use the zoom and darken sliders to frame it and keep your text readable. "Fill" covers the whole 16:9 frame; "Fit whole photo" fits the entire photo inside it. You can also use your own logo, an emoji or one of the built-in icons as the centre graphic.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make an animated starting soon screen?
Yes. Pick one of 17 animation styles — floating particles, fire/embers, snowfall, rain, twinkling stars, bokeh lights, bottom waves, confetti, hearts, sakura petals, autumn leaves, matrix rain, fireflies, shooting stars, bubbles, an equalizer or sparkles — then export a WebM or GIF and add it to OBS as a looping Media source. For a still version, choose "None" and export the PNG.
Can I add a countdown timer?
Yes. Turn on the countdown, set a length or a time (and day) to count to, and pick one of six styles. It ticks live in the OBS browser source link; PNG, GIF and WebM files show the full length, or the time itself when you count to a time.
What size should a stream starting soon screen be?
1920 × 1080 pixels (full HD, 16:9). This maker exports PNG and WebM at that size (PNG also at 1440p and 4K), and GIFs at a lighter resolution to keep the file small. For TikTok LIVE or another vertical stream, switch the canvas to Vertical to get 1080 × 1920.
Should I use a GIF or WebM for OBS?
WebM is better — full resolution, smooth and small — added as a looping Media source. Use GIF only when you need maximum compatibility, as it has fewer colours and bigger files.
Can I use my own background image?
Yes. Pick "Your photo", upload an image, then drag to reposition and use zoom and darken to frame it. Everything is processed in your browser.
Does it work for YouTube and Kick?
Absolutely — the exported PNG, GIF or WebM works in any streaming software on Twitch, YouTube, Kick or Trovo.
